Spring Valley Montessori Academy provides twenty-five children, ages 2 ½ to 5 the essential tools for becoming accomplished individuals; creatively, academically, and socially. In our Montessori classroom, each child is allowed to experience the excitement of learning through self-exploration. As Montessorians, we identify the following learning objectives to be instrumental in promoting the exceptional child.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop and foster an abiding curiosity
  • Develop habits of initiative and persistence
  • Develop sensory-motor skills in order to
  • sharpen the ability to discriminate and judge
  • Develop social skills
  • Acquire the basic skills necessary for a lifetime of learning
  • Help develop each child's innate, ultimate potential through high self expectations

Spring Valley Montessori Academy these objectives are approached in two ways:

  1. By allowing each child to experience the excitement of learning by his or her own choice rather than by being forced; and
  2. By helping the child perfect his or her natural tools for learning, so that the child's abilities will be maximized for future learning situations. The Montessori materials have this dual, long-range purpose in addition to their immediate purpose of giving specific information to the child.

Spring Valley Montessori Academy is located at 4605 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20016.
