Spring Valley Montessori Academy provides twenty-five children, ages 2 ½ to 5 the essential tools for becoming accomplished individuals; creatively, academically, and socially. In our Montessori classroom, each child is allowed to experience the excitement of learning through self-exploration. As Montessorians, we identify the following learning objectives to be instrumental in promoting the exceptional child.
Learning Objectives:
- Develop and foster an abiding curiosity
- Develop habits of initiative and persistence
- Develop sensory-motor skills in order to
- sharpen the ability to discriminate and judge
- Develop social skills
- Acquire the basic skills necessary for a lifetime
of learning
- Help develop each child's innate, ultimate
potential through high self expectations
Spring Valley Montessori Academy these objectives are approached in two ways:
- By allowing each child to experience the excitement of learning by his or her own choice rather than by being forced; and
- By helping the child perfect his or her natural tools for learning, so that the child's abilities will be maximized for future learning situations. The Montessori materials have this dual, long-range purpose in addition to their immediate purpose of giving specific information to the child.
Spring Valley Montessori Academy is located at 4605 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20016.
